The Audience Was Never There
I was inspired to start this piece by reminiscing about when I wanted to look out the window, but I didn’t allow myself to because I was self-conscious. I included an imaginary mural over Vancouver’s Kitsilano Beach, and by removing the spectators I thought were watching me, I revealed that their gaze came only from my imagination. Overall, I expressed the moment of breaking free from others’ gaze and viewing the world through my own perspective.
